My process, step by step:

  • Clean and photograph the part from every angle — reference photos save hours later.
  • Measure the critical features first (bores, mating faces, threads), then the general envelope.
  • Model the functional surfaces accurately, and approximate the cosmetic ones.
  • Verify against the original with test prints or a quick machine pass.
  • Deliver a clean, parametric CAD file plus drawings if needed.

The goal isn't an identical copy — it's a model that fits, functions and can be manufactured. That's the difference between reverse engineering and just tracing.
