Plane2 angle = (360° / count) / 2. Alternating seed rows are circularly repeated by 360° / count.
How to use the Adaptive Staggered Hole Preview
Quick start
Select a test shape and enter its dimensions.
Set the hole diameter, depth, first-centre edge offset and path direction.
Enter independent D, H and V centre-distance limits. The first checkbox displays that dimension; the second enforces it in the solver.
Leave “Copy D limits to H and V” off when the three ranges must be edited independently.
Choose a vertical definition. Same radial-plane measures actual centres two staggered rows apart; Opposite stagger neighbour measures the second nearest neighbour in the adjacent row.
Select manual or automatic circular count, then press Calculate and rebuild preview. Number inputs also update after a short delay.
Drag to orbit, use the wheel to zoom, and click a hole to select the row whose labels are shown.
Dimension colours
D — yellow: nearest staggered-row centre pair.
H — cyan: adjacent centres on the same ring or planar row.
V — green: the centre pair defined by the Vertical measurement selector.
Range and stopping behaviour
Stop below minimum prevents under-spaced holes but leaves values above maximum visible.
Contiguous band inside every range shows only the region passing all enabled limits.
Mark invalid rows red is useful for diagnosis.
Important cone/dome limitation
One circular count cannot keep H constant where radius changes greatly. Use automatic count, divide the surface into zones, or widen the H range. The results schedule reports exact values for every generated row.
Custom shape
Select “Custom revolved profile”, click profile points in the graph or type radius,Y pairs, and rebuild. The profile is revolved around Y before holes are calculated.
